File 01 Aquaman

The Birth: As an infant, the waterbreathing Prince Orin, heir to the throne of Atlantis, was abandoned on a reef to die in the receding tide. Saved by a dolphin, Porm, he was raised by her. A kindly lighthouse keeper, Arthur Curry, taught him the ways and language of the surface world, and Orin took the lighthouse keeper's name as his. He met the Flash (Barry Allen), was dubbed Aquaman, and helped found the Justice League of America. Aquaman made his splashing debut in November 1941 in More Fun Comics #73, a creation of Mort Weisinger,

The Alter Ego: Aquaman has no other identity, neither does he have the need for one. His real name is Orin but he has also taken the name of his foster father, Arthur Curry. Though he may take his time in forming relationships, he will definitely be committed once he has made a promise. Often silent, as is his way, he speaks with an accent as beautiful as a whale-song and an informed clarity that others cannot ignore. Arthur was once married to Mera, a queen from another dimension. Their first child died at the hands of an enemy, the Black Manta. Subsequently, Mera left him and the marine man is currently single. He is A broad, bombastic man, a peerless warrior king and truly a great storyteller of his time.

The Legend: Arthur is the King of the Seas and thus master of almost three quarters of the Earth. He is the Protector of the seas, the King of Poseidonis. His name is feared and respected from the shallow shores of the Mediterranean to the blackest depths of the Marianas Trench where the blind fish swim and only he can walk. Every living thing in the sea knows that their king would willingly die for any one of them, as they would for him. Aquaman's life as king and hero has been fraught with great triumph and tragedy. His childhood was anything but normal. With Aqualad, later Tempest, he became known as protector of all the oceans and its creatures. Orin returned to Atlantis to be king. It was at around this time that he met Mera and later married her. After losing his wife and his kingdom, he later pulled up his sox and regained control of himself and his empire. Another villain, Charybdis, cost him his left hand. Never one to accept a defeat, he used this to his advantage. Now, his cybernetically controlled left hand (comlements Star Labs) can become almost any shape, including a hook with retractable cable. Aquaman communicates telepathically with most sea life. His super-dense body can withstand pressures of the deep and grants Aquaman superhuman strength. Throughout all the tragedy and triumph, there has never been a question that he is the King of the Seas.
Arthur also has access to a quantum field phenomenon called "the Clear". "The Clear" quantum phenomenon has been observed with the subject called the Swamp Thing who called it the Green or the Morphogenic Field of Animal Man (also called the Red). Aquaman has the ability to sense the primal emotions of aquatic creatures through "The Clear". The Clear seems to function as a universal consciousness of all sea life.
He also has a sonar power which allows him to detect things just as much in a way a dolphin would. He can use this when he is blinded.
