The Birth: Years ago, a trapeeze artist, Boston Brand was busy performing in the show. Unknown to him, that was going to be his last circus performance as he would soon be mowed down in mid-air by an assasin's bullet.
That was then. This is now. Because of the traumatic circumstances surrounding his death, Boston was unable to go to rest and adopted the name Deadman.

The Alter Ego: Deadman's real name is Boston Brand. While other superheroes have alter egoes, Brand is acutually a ghost, therefore has only one identity. After his death, Brand took quite some time to come to terms about what he truly was -Dead. After death, Brand realized how precious life was. That's one reason why he spends his time fighting crime - but in his line of expertise : ghosts and the dead.

The Legend: If any crime is even remotely connected to unnatural forces beyond the realm of the living, then Deadman has to get involved. Deadman's power includes possessing the bodies of both; the living and the dead. Brand's M.O. in dealing with mortals involves possessing their bodies thereby preventing them from accomplishing their evil deeds. Deadman can even make himself visible for short periods of time, this is accomplished by a strong will power and determination.
He has also helped the Batman on a couple of occassions.
