File 43 NightWing

The Birth:The mask of Robin made it's first appearance in Detective Comics #29 July 1939 as Batman's partner and became one of the most famous sidekicks in the comic world, earning him the name of 'Boy Wonder'. This boy was Richard (Dick) Grayson. As time went on he graduated from school and moved on in life. He had the urge to become his own man and not stay forever in the shadow of the Batman or of Bruce Wayne. This gave way to the new identity of NightWing. Dick Grayson first made his mark as NightWing in the pages of the Tales Of The Teen Titans #44 in February 1984.

The Alter Ego: Richard (Dick) Grayson was trained for the role of Robin from a very young age. The acrobatics came naturally to this former trapeeze artist. As Dick Grayson made his new life, he eventually moved out of the Wayne Manor and left Gotham City to make Blüdhaven his base of operations. Young, intelligent and handsome he has had many romances but still hasn't found a sweetheart with whom he can go steady with.

The Legend: On June 23 over two decades ago, a high wire and trapeeze artist family called The Flying Graysons were performing at the Haly Circus in Kravia. That very day the Graysons were murdered by a Kravian rebel masquerading as Pickles the Clown, save for the young boy; Richard Grayson. After leaving the circus, the boy was adopted by millionaire Bruce Wayne and later trained to become history's first Robin; The Boy Wonder. Soul searching made Dick give up the costume of Robin and swing across the nights as NightWing; thereby getting out of the Batman's shadow. For a time he fought alongside the Teen Titans before shifting his base to Blüdhaven.
When Dick had reunited with Alfred Pennyworth, he found documents that would probably throw light on his parents murder. Before revisiting Kravia, the duo paid a visit to the Batcave where Harold souped up NightWing's costume incorporating Kelvar bullet proofing, night vision, Nomex fire resistant material etc. This modified costume also differed in appearance but it is still the same one that NightWing wears now. NightWing employs monofilament decel jumplines and grapels, customized Batarangs, rebreather, gas capsules and others devices stored in his utility belt. So even though he went away from the mantle of the Bat he still has a lot of traces of the Batman's influences.
