File 13 Cyclops

The Birth: Scott Summers was born in Anchorage, Alaska. He lead a decent life up until the age of about 7, when his parents were supposedly killed in a plane crash. Major Christopher Summers, a test pilot in the U.S. Air Force flew himself, his wife Katherine, and his sons Scott and Alex back from a vacation in his vintage private plane. The plane was attacked and set ablaze by a scout ship from the alien Shi'ar Empire. Katherine pushed Scott and Alex out the plane door with the only available parachute. In falling, Scott had hit his head and remained comatose in a hospital for about a year. The two were submited to a desolete and creepy orphanage (secretly run by Mr. Sinister). Alex, being a cute little four year old, was adopted imediatly, but Scott was never adopted. While at the orphanage, Scott made only one friend, Nethaniel, who was actualy Mr. Sinister in disguise. Scott began to suffer from severe headaches and eyestrain. He was sent to an eye specialist in Washington, D.C., who discovered that lenses made of ruby quartz corrected the problem.

......
One day when Scott was about 17, while he was visiting a large city, his developing mutant power to project optic force beams finally erupted, bursting forth in an uncontrollable blast that demolished a crane, causing it to drop a huge object towards a terrified crowd. Scott saved the crowd by obliterating the object with another blast, but they turned into an angry mob, thinking he had tried to kill them. Scott fled, ultimately escaping on a freight train.
He was recruited by the villanous Jack Winters, who had dimond hands, and was planning to steal radioactive isotopes to encase his whole body in diamond. He convinces Scott to help him. That's when Professor Xavier stepped in and saved Scott from ruining his life. Scott and Xavier together defeated Jack O'Diamonds; as he now called himself. And Scott Summers became Professor Xavier's first X-Man and adopted the name "Cyclops"
Cyclops made his debut in X-Men #1

The Alter Ego: Scott Summers fell in love with his teammate Jean Grey But after she was assumed dead, he married Madilyne Prior; an exact copy of Jean. She gave birth to a son; Nathaniel Cristopher Summers who later on became Cable. After Madilyne, he married his love Jean Grey. He also realized he had a daughter, Rachel Summers who claimed to be Jean and Scott's offspring from a parallel future.

The Legend: Being the first X-Men, and also having the right dedication and responsibility, Cyclops became the team leader. Cyclops' life went on fine till Krakoa, the living island captured the X-Men to feed on their mutant energies. It left Cyclops free knowing that he would return with more mutants. Xavier recruited several more members and Cyclops trained them for the rescue mission. This team consisted of Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Storm, Banshee and Thunderbird; who incedently died two issues later leaving Cuclops in a down mood. This new team rescued the old members and then many of the original members left for a while. But Scott stayed on.

...... Scott also discovered that his father was alive. His parents had not persished in the crash but were taken prisoner by the Shi'ar. Katherine soon died due to tortue but Christopher who escaped became Corsair, leader of the Starjammers, a band of interstellar adventurers.

...... Shortly afterwards the cosmic entity called the Phoenix Force secretly placed Jean in suspended animation and impersonated her, adopting a form identical to hers. When this Phoenix committed suicide, Scott believed that the real Jean had died and he left the X-Men. Eventually he returned to the team and met and married Madelyne Pryor, a woman who was Jean's double; he was unaware she was a clone of Jean created by Mr. Sinister. Scott and Madelyne had a baby son, named Nathan Christopher Summers who later on became Cable, and Scott again left the X-Men - paternity leave?
Sometime later, Mr. Fantastic surprised Cyclops with a call asking him to come and identify a body. This turned out to be the real Jean Grey who had been encased in the protective cocoon by the Phoenix entity. With Jean now revived, Scott left his wife.
In the meantime, Madelyne became insane when Sinisterīs Marauders kidnapped her son. She then allied with the demon Nastyrth to get powers and to save her kid. Madelyne now had demon-like powers, plus telepathic and telekinetic ones. Later she and Jean duked it out with Madelyne dying and Jean coming out winner.
Scott and Jean had another surprise in store for them. A girl named Rachel Summers who displayed powers of the Phoenix entity claimed that she was their daughter from an alternate timelime in the future. Soon she was accepted as Jean's daughter.

...... Later on, Apocalypse infected Nathan with a techno-organic virus which slowley converts its victim into a lifeless robot. To save his life, Scott was forced to allow a time traveling member of the Askani to transport Nathan to the 30th century of an alternate future.
Jean and Scott later got married after Professor Xavier's extended soujorn innspace with the Starjammers. Their honeymoon was interupted when Mother Askani, leader of the Askani (who was actually Rachel Summers - 80 years old), drew their spirits two millennia into an alternate future, where they inhabited new bodies. There, as Slym and Redd, they spent years raising young Nathan into his early adolescence. Then Scott and Jean returned to their own time and bodies, and Nathan remained to grow up into his time's greatest hero, Cable.

...... The X-Men get captured by the Shadow King, so it's X-Force to the rescue. And just as Scott, Jean, Warren, Hank, and Bobby had been rescued years earlier from Krakoa by these guys, they returned the favor and kicked SKs telepathic ass back to the Astral Plane.

...... Cyclops suffered serious injuries at the hands of Bastion during Operation: Zero Tolerance and, once the organization was shut down, left the X-Men along with his wife to heal. He returned to the X-Men and led a team to fight off Apocalypse's Horseman Death, who supposedly killed Wolverine right before their eyes. It was later revealed that Wolverine himself was actually Death, and that the Wolverine killed was a Skrull imposter. Cyclops sent a squad of X-Men to deal with Wolverine, while he and the rest of the Twelve headed to Egypt to confront Apocalypse. While in battle with Apocalypse, Cyclops sacrificed himself to save X-Man and merged with Apocalypse. Cylops was thought to be dead for sometime but turned up a short time afterwards.

Cyclops' main power includes solar-powerd beams of concussive force that eminate uncontrolably from his eyes. He absorbs the energy for these blasts from the sun, and stores it until needed. Due to a childhood accident in which he hit his head, Cyclops cannot control his optic blasts and must contain them with special ruby quartz glasses. During battle, he uses a ruby quartz visor to shoot out the blasts at various frequencies.
