The Birth: First introduced in Issue #5, Dr. Doom is the Fantastic Four's eternal arch foe. An evil genius, he was one of Reed and Ben's college classmates. Doom's mother was trapped in a demonic dimension for many years, a fact that caused Victor great mental anguish. A machine he built for the purpose of trying to communicate with her blew up in his face, filling him with an intense dislike of Reed Richards, who warned Doom of mistakes in his calculations before the explosion. The explosion resulted in horrid facial scars that Doom hid with his iron mask.
The Alter Ego: Dr.Doom's real name is Victor Von Doom. He
merely adopted the title of "Doctor" because he felt it had a nice
ring to it. Doom does not possess a doctrate in any field. But he is
a genius, comparable to Dr.Reed Richards. He is a
proud man and his pride made him hide his face because of the
disfigurement. Doom amy be an evil person with illusions of world
domination but he is a man of his word. Once he says something, he will
stick by it and never go against it. He finds petty lies to be too
low for him.
He has no relatives except for an adopted son, Kristoff.
The Legend: Dr.Doom is the absolute ruler of Latveria.
Doom induces fear into his subjects to make them obey his every
command. Infact, through his methods, crime has been completely
eliminated in Latveria, lest the lawbreakers suffers the consequences
metted out by Doom.
Right from the begining, Dr.Doom has been an arch enemy of the
Fantastic Four. But he has also gone against the likes of
Spidey, Iron Man, The X-Men and many other
heroes of the Marvel Universe.
Victor Von Doom is also a student of the mystic arts and sorcery. He once enterained the notion of becoming the sudent of Dr. Stephen Strange so as to master the mystic arts. But his real power lied in his genius level IQ. He has constructed a time machine, something beyond the capabilities of his arch-rival Reed Richards. His "Doom-bots" are so like him few people can tell if they are speaking to the Master of Latveria or just an incredible facsimile. His nuclear-powered armor is capable of generating a force field, as well as strong blasts of energy he shoots from his armored hands.
Craving for power, he once trapped the Silver Surfer and siphoned
of some of his power cosmic. He was driven almost to madness after he
attained a state of near godhood but that was short lived since
Reed Richards executed a plan that stripped him of the power cosmic.
The remaining power which he had trapped was used on Tyros the
Terrible; a former herald of Galactus to destroy the Fantastic
Four. Ofcourse, that plan didn't work out either.
Doom went up against the Fantastic Four in another event, but
got his mind trapped in a miniature melting robotic replica of
himself, while his body was trapped in suspended animation and lay in
possession of the Fantastic Four. The Four had helped the rebels
overthrow Doom's rule and let Zorba become the new leader. When the
Four went to the Latverian embassy to return Doom's body, they
were trapped and attacked by Doom's robot versions. The Doom-bots
also retreived his body and transfered his mind from the miniature
robot to this actual body. With the Fantastic Four rendered powerless
to strike him, Doom asked them for their help to retake his throne.
The Four naturally declined but when they saw how inefficient and
ruthless Zorba had become, they fought side by side with Doom to
eliminate Zorba's threat's. Victor Von Doom dealt with Zorba personally
- a battle which ended Zorba's life and put the throne of Latveria
in Dr.Doom's hands. And Doom, being a man of his word, let the
Fantastic Four march out wither harming them, though he promised them
that the future would hold their downfall at his hands.
During this episode, there was a woman and her son who Doom kept
under his protection. The woman was killed by one of Zorba's robots
and the child; Kristoff became an adopted son of Doom. He tutored
Kristoff in the ways of world and of the throne. Kristoff was an
intelligent kid but under Doom's influence his mind became slightly
warped and he has a nasty habit of calling himself as Dr. Doom
He even destroyed the Baxter Building, the HQ of the Fantastic Four.
Doom has never had a girl of his own but there was this
one time when Storm of the X-Men had a massive
crush on Doom. Ofcourse, that was one of his Doom-bots.
When the Fantastic Four were fighting alongside Dr.Doom against
a deadly mosnster, Doom was about to be killed when Reed rushed to his
help. But an explosion ensued which was thought to have killed both
Reed and Doom. Turned out that Reed was transported to some primitive
time and Doom was held prisoner by Hyperstorm, a deadly new villain.
Doom escaped from the villain's clutches to rule Latveria once more.
