File 22 The Flash

The Birth: A freak accident in a lab gave the police scientist, Barry Allen, an amazing power of super speed. The name of Flash has changed hands since then, with Allen's nephew adopting his powers.
Unlike his predecessors, Wally West gained his powers at an early age. While visiting the lab of his uncle-to-be, a seemingly random bolt of lightning duplicated the event that gave Allen his speed, granting Wally identical powers. He took the name of Kid Flash and later as Barry Allen passed away, adopted his title. Wally West zipped through the pages of comics, starting with The Flash #110 (December, 1959-January 1960) as Kid Flash and grew to become The Flash in Crisis On Infinite Earths #12 (March,1986). Credit for his creation goes to Gardner Fox.

The Alter Ego: The green eyed, red haired Wallace Rudolph West is an adventurer and stays in Blue Valley, Nebraska. Recently married his identity is secret to all except his friends and other who have embraced the Spped Force.

The Legend: When Wally first gained powers he took the name of Kid Flash and became the side-kick to the fastest man alive. For a time he also worked with the Teen Titans.
Later, he grew up the only kid sidekick ever to fulfill the job's inherent promise; when Barry died, it was Wally's responsibility to adopt his costume and identity. Since then, Wally has mastered speed tricks beyond those that Jay Garrick (the original Flash) and Barry knew. He has also learned that his origin may have been no accident at all; apparently, there is an energy field beyond the light speed barrier from which all speedsters draw their power, a Speed Force that may have chosen Wally for a reason yet to be revealed.
Flash can vibrate through solids, but not without causing them to explode. Inside Flash's earpieces are radios tuned to police band and emergency frequencies. He is able to reach a top velocity of just under light speed. Any faster and he merges with the Speed Force. Though he cannot affect people or things at rest, Flash can lend velocity to moving objects.
