The Birth: The girl known as Rogue remains a mystery to all even today. It has been suggested that she was; like most mutants; born with her powers. Rogue used to be on the bad guys team but after absorbing the personality of Ms Marvel, she changed sides and joined the X-Men.

The Legend: The young woman we know only as Rogue first discovered her abilities when she first kissed her boyfriend Cody, who collapsed from the energy drain. Evidently, her family dissowned her, and she landed up with Mystique as her step-mom. Rouge learned a great dispassion for life and joined the Brotherhood of evil Mutants (IV) under Mystiques leadership.
While on a mission, Rogue came into contact with Ms Marvel. Mystique forced Rogue to keep contact. The result was that now Rogue had Ms Marvels powers and her personality. This "good guy" persona lead Rouge to quit the Brotherhood. Wanting to fianly be able to control her power, Rogue sought the aid of her enemies, the X-Men.
Rogue continued on the team using her absorbtion powers by drawing powers from either her collegues or the bad guys to fught against the villains.
Rogue,after passing through the Seige Perrilous, wound up in the Savage land, only to find that her Ms. Marvel personality had split from her. The two fought, and Rogue almost lost, but Magneto saved her. Rogue had continued to lose and regain her powers sparadicaly. After spending some time with Magneto, S.H.I.E.L.D. came by, and she accepted a lift home. There, she found newcomer Gambit, who tirelessly hit on her. However, her powers of absorbtion (along with Gambits unwillingness to let anyone read his thoughts) made for a... strained relationship.
Later it turned out that Gambit's dead wife Bella Donna came back to life and searched out Gambit as her enemy. Rouge kicked her ass, but absorbed a lot of her personality in doing so. Then Sabretooth started living in the Mansion and told Rouge the story of when Gambit let the woman he "loved" fall to her death (Who he was actualy using to get a rare artifact). Then, just as it seemed like the world was going to end Rouge and Gambit shared a kiss. However, they both survived; puting Gambit in a coma and Rouge knowing Gambit's dark secret (which she buried in her subconcious) . She couldn't decode the information, and the two lovers actualy started duking it out. Rouge left the X-Men for a while so she could get her head straightened out.
Under the alias Ms Smith, she rented a room, got a job... and then she got captured by the friends of humanity, where she was saved by Joseph. Then along came Onslaught,. Joe and Rogue, with the help of the others duked it out with Onslaught and soon got close to each other. This infuriated Gambit and he duked it out with Joe. Of course, Rogue didn't care less and the two settled their differences.
SOme time later, through Eric the Red, the X-Men learned of Gambit's dark secret - he had worked for Mr.Sinister and was responsible for the Mutant Massacre. Rogue absorbed Gambit's self- hatred and began to hate him herself. Now finally wanting to rid herself of her powers, she attempted to undergo a "treatment" which would cure her of her mutantcy. What she didn't know was that the people who were trying to help her were actually her step-mom Mystique and Apocalypse. The two of them wanted to harness her power and make her into a slave. As always their attempt failed.
Later on, Gambit; who had left the team, returned and the two of them finally settled their differences and became a couple once again.
Rogue has the mutant ability to imitate an individuals powers and personality upon skin-to-skin contact. This is an absorbtion process, which leaves the victim a little woozy. Her abilities of flight, super strength, invulnerability, and "Seventh sense" (a danger warning) are abilities permanently absorbed from Ms. Marvel.
