organization known as the Vicious Circle. But while Chris was able to put that behind
him his bother, a hapless crack addict, couldn't free himself from their grasp. Chris
left Chicago and did a stint in the marines while his brother's life fell apart.
As a child, Peter Klaptin dreamed of being a superhero and a Rock star. He focussed
his energy in pursuit of these two goals and became a successful recording artist. His
other goal, eluded him, however. Althought he could equip himslef with high-tech
gadgets, he lacked the timing and skill necessary to do the job. During his first
adventure, he was badly beaten. Klaptin realized that he didn't have what it took to
be a real crimefighter.
When he was accosted by a group of young toughts, Chris Robisnons saved him from
their attack. Klaptin concocted an elaborate scheme - if he couldn't be a superhero -
he'd pretend to be one and use Roninson as his stand in. Klaptin hired Robinson as his
bodyguard and supplied him with the necessary weapons to fight crime as the superhero
known as Star.
Eventually, suspecting that Klaptin was Star, Klaptin was kidnapped and the real
Star, Chris Robinson, had to come to his rescue. Klaptin fired Robinson for failing to
prevent his initial capture and therefore letting word get out that Klaptin wasn't
Star. Robinson left his employment but took the Star uniform with him, arguing that
he'd earned it and that Klaptin would have to further damage his credibility getting
it back. Robinson later went through the police academy and joined the Chicago Police
Department.
