File 32 Lois Joanne Lane Kent

The Lady: Lois Joanne Lane is "army brat" who grew up on bases all over the world, Lois received hand-to-hand combat and survival training from her father who was in the army. Apparently, her father wanted a son but having got Lois he nevertheless moulded her into the tough cookie that she is today. Lois' sister Lucy, the more docile of the two has being going steady with Daily Planet ace photographer Jimmy Olsen. Lois Lane made her historical debut in Action Comics #1 (June 1938) and her first canonical appearance in the miniseries that revamped the Superman storyline; The Man Of Steel #1 in June 1986.

Lois may not be a superhero but she is definitely a hero. She has helped in her own way, working as a reporter for the Daily Planet, to unearth a lot of injustice and unfair treatment meted out to the citizens of Metropolis. She has also worked in the S.C.U for a short time while she was doing some research for her story. Lane has become one of the Planet's top reporters not just by persuing a story but also by feeling what she writes; for example when she wrote an exclusive on the missing children, a few years back. Lane has also tried her best to educate the public about the not so gallant deeds of Lex Luthor using the press as her weapon.

It was Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane who gave Superman his name and inadvertantly launched his career. Saved from what would have been a fatal plane crash by the mysterious flying man, she became determined to interview him. But Lois was beaten out of an exclusive by new reporter Clark Kent. For years, Lane and Kent were rivals, but they eventually fell in love. As all relationships have their ups and downs, for a time Lois fell in love with José Delgado (See Gangbuster) while Clark went out with Catherine Grant. Shortly after Lois and Clark were engaged, Clark revealed his dual identity to his fiancée, and she realized the truth that she'd denied. Now married, Lois and Clark continue to work together for the Planet, the world little suspecting that her husband is actually Superman.
