The Birth: The mask of Robin made it's first appearance in Detective Comics #29 July 1939 as Batman's partner and became one of the most famous sidekicks in the comic world, earning him the name of 'Boy Wonder'. The present Robin entered the scene in Batman #457. Bruce Wayne knows all too well that the Batman is a dark brooding knight and needs a balance of Robin to keep him in check.

The Alter Egos: Initially, the mask hid the face of Dick Grayson (see NightWing). As Dick finished school and grew up, the costume was worn by another boy; Jason Todd, who unfortunately fell prey at the hands of the Joker. Now, the present Robin is young Timothy Drake, a high school student who was trained for the role by the Batman. Drake was first seen in Batman #436 August 1989. Tim's life is as complex as any other adolescent kid without bringing the problems of Robin into the picture. But he skillfully balances both sides of his life, a necessity for any super-hero. Fighting alonside the Batman, he often illustrates to his mentor that he does need a Robin whether he cares to admit it or not.
As for his love life, he may be just fourteen years old but he has a steady girlfriend, Ariana Dzerchenko who used to school with him. When her uncle, a butcher, found her alone with Tim he flew off the handle and later enrolled her in another school.
Another one of his hobbies,Tim Drake finds computers right up his alley and can easily work his way around even the magnificent crays.

The Legend: Like his mentor; the Batman and his predessesor; NightWing, Tim Drake also had to face that factor which would throw his life onto a new course. The death of his mother and the near death of his father at the hands of the Obiah Man drove him to fight for justice. Robin's weapons are similar to the Batman and NightWing though he does have his own specialities. He employs a reinforced polymer telescoping Bo staff, the slingshot and razor sharp shuriken which are fashioned in form of his 'R' emblem. Other than these are the normal utilities like rebreather, gas pellets, grappling hooks and the rest of the arsenal in his utlity belt. Robin has also studied the martial arts which enable him to end combat quickly inspite of his small size.
