The Birth: A teenage Matt Murdock; while saving an old man from being hit by a truck; was rewarded with permanent blindness caused due to radioactive material which hit him in the eyes. But while one sense was removed, he found that all his other senses had been enhanced by the radioactive substance.
Daredevil's origin and his first appearance was detailed in Daredevil #1.

The Alter Ego: Matt Murdoch was an excellent student both, before and after the incident that changed his life. His father, an ageing boxer, Johnathan "Battling Jack" Murdock always insisted that he do well in life so that he would not end up like his old man - earning from his fists. Truth and justice were imbibed into him by his father right from the time he was young. Eventually, Matt took to law and became one of the best lawyers in the country; inspite of his handicap.
While his father has passed away, Matt stil has his mom; Grace Murdock and his sister; Maggie. Some of his best friends and confidants have always been his partner, Franklin "Foggy" Nelson and Karen Page.

The Legend: On gaining his super powers, Matt decided to put them to use by fighting crime. From the day he donned his red suit and adopted the name "Daredevil", he has been fighting for justice as a vigilante hero in his hometown; Hell's Kitchen, a place in New York City. Quite often he uses his sluthing to get evidence for cases he works on.
One of his major enemies had been The Kingpin of crime. He has also battled Bullseye, Mr. Fear, Owl, Stilt-Man, Vulture and Typhoid Mary to name a few.
Recognized as a worthy opponent by his enemies and well respected by other super-heroes, Daredevil remains a loner and has turned down membership to various super-hero groups. He once had a partnership with his friend Black Widow, though.
Matt is a well primed acrobat, a talent which he uses to get him around the city as Daredevil, and it also comes handy in fighting. Being bought up on ideals about solving problems with his mind rather than his fists, Daredevil refuses to carry any weapons except a billy club which also has a wire enabling him to swing from rooftops. He is skilled in the art of unarmed combat and self defence and never uses any more force than necessary.
Besides his super-senses (smell, touch, taste, hearing), he also has a "radar" which enables him to sense outlines of all objects in vicinity for 360 degrees.
