File 57 Silvermane

The Birth: Silvio Manfredi a.k.a Silvermane a.k.a The Supreme Hydra appeared on the scene as the Maggia leader in Amazing Spider-Man #73. (1969)

The Alter Ego: Silvermane has always been a ruthless critter bothering about no-one but himself. He made plans in advance to cheat death, should the need arise. He attached himself to one of the most evil businesses - mainly peddling drugs.
Of course, Silverman the Cyborg was just a mindless creature being controlled by the Kingpin of crime.

The Legend: Silvio Manfredi made his buck by peddling drugs to innocent kids. Soon, he rose up the ranks of the Maggia, eventually becoming their boss. When he appeared in Spider-Man #75, he was already an elderly Maggia boss with one foot almost in the grave. Yearing to get his youth back he stole The Tablet of Time and kidnapped Dr. Curt Conners from his lab in the Everglades to translate it. The formula shrank him into a molucue and then like a rubber-band to land him securely in the prime of his life.
He then took the title of The Supreme Hydra as he gained control of the H.Y.D.R.A operations. But his stint as HYDRA head didn't go so well, however, and Silvermane soon sought to re-establish himself as a Maggia leader.
Silvermane now had problems since the Green Goblin had already made his mark in the city in organized crime. The rivalry for premier position led to a confrontation between the two crime-lords and ended in the Green Goblin dropping Silvermane from a height from the Goblin Glider; an impact breaking nearly every bone in his body.
Like a cat with nine lives, Silvermane survived the fall but was now hooked to a life support system in his mansion, from where he continued to head the Maggia. About this time, two youngsters going by the names of Cloak and Dagger tracked the Maggia boss down with the intention of silencing him forever. Turns out that the couple were a bunch of young kids who had been kidnapped by the gang and used as geniea pigs for experiments with various drugs. CLoak and Dagger ended up dealing a death blow to the already crippled Silvermane, despite Spider-Man's intervention.
But as he cheated death before, he continued to do so again. His doctor transfered Silvermane's body to a special unti where the operations began. In a short while Silvermane's brain, heart and other vital organs were transplanted into a cybernetic body.
With revenge in his eyes, the resurrected and new and improved Silvermane charged out in search of Cloak and Dagger. But while he had immense strength from the cybernetic body, his vital organs were still the same, old ones. The heavy strain on them from all this prancing around left him an open target to Daggers light knives. Once again Silvermane died.
But once again he came back to life! The Kingpin, who had given Spidey the location of Silvermane's mansion had been watching the going-ons with great interest. After Silvermane's apparent death, he stole the cybernetic body from the morgue and revived it to be used as the ultimate assasin. Only problem was, Silvermane was deviod of consiousness and under complete control of the Kingpin. On his return he trashed Spidey real bad, who went to Black Cat for help. Silvermane was also able to hone in on Dagger's presence since she had absorbed the boss' life force. In the end, Dagger bathed him with light, at which time consciousness returned to Silvermane. He broke free of the Kingpin's control and once again assumed control of the Maggia.
Spider-Man keeps getting tangled up in Silvermane's affairs, usually through his efforts to save others from the drug lord. When he ran HYDRA, Silvermane had to deal with DareDevil, the Black Widow, Nick Fury, and all of S.H.I.E.L.D. His drug empire not only created Cloak and Dagger, who remain his arch enemies, but has caused friction between him and fellow cyborg Deathlok, and caused him to be targeted by the Punisher. He also has his share of enemies from the world of crime: the Rapier, his former best friend who turned vigilante after Silvermane tried to off him; the third Green Goblin, who challenged Silvermane for control of the Maggia; Jack O'Lantern, who successful blew Silvermane up yet didn't manage to kill him; and the Maggia's greatest competition, the Kingpin.
While he has had trouble with upstarts like Caesar Cicero within his organization, most of Silvermane's gang members are fanatically loyal and willing to follow him whatever body he happens to be wearing at the time. His son, the super-villain Blackwing, was one of his section heads when Silvermane headed up HYDRA. Blackwing opted to stay with HYDRA (and eventually became one of the Red Skull's elite enforcers); despite this, he and his dad remain close.
While in a normal human body, Silvermane had no powers at all except the complete control of the Maggia. His cybernetic body increased his strength hundred-fold enabling him easily whip Spidey and also leap over tall buliding with ease.
