The Birth: Well, this guy goes right back during the Vietnam War. When Robert DuBois dodged his army draft and his younger brother, Micheal DuBois went in his place. Micheal lost both his arms and legs in the war and that made Robert DuBois really mad! That's when he started rampaging about town as Bloodsport. He made his first appearance in Superman #4.
Much later, when Superman (See Superman)came back from the dead, he barely got enough time to recover from his ordeal when another Bloodsport showed up in town. (Re:Adventures Of Superman #507, December 1993). This guy had a very different agenda compared to his predessesor : He was a Racist. He had a similar method of teleporting his weapons to himself, but his teleportation device was implanted in his chest by Bloodthirst (See BloodThisrt).
The Alter Ego: The first Bloodsport, Robert Dubois,
apparently went off the deep end after he realized that his brother;
Micheal had lost both his arms and legs in the war. After all, Micheal
had taken Robert's place while he himself dodged his draft.
He had been in and out of psychiatric hospitals all over Canada for
twelve years before he finally turned up in Metropolis. The guy was a
classified psycho.
As for BloodSport II, he was merely a racist who wanted to keep his turf "clean". A man consumed by his own hatred for everyone who was different, he suffered rejection when he perhaps could not find a decent job because of reserved quota for minority communities. He started to blame these minority communities for all his failures in life and that's when things gor a bit out of hand.
The Legend: Robert Dubois used a weapons transporter to teleport his ammo and guns from a warehouse right into his hand. When he came to Metropolis, he went on a killing spree, gunning down anything that moved. Of course, he met up with Superman, but he had already taken that into account and used a handgun loaded with Kryptonite slivers to put Supes out of commission. When things got out of hand, Jimmy Olsen intervened by briging Micheal DuBois into the picture who stopped Bloodsport from futher bloodshed. Last we heard from him was when he duked it out with his successor in the state pen.
The second Bloodsport, it seemed, liked black people - dead. And
he just didn't stop at only African-Americans but lashed out at any
one who was different in blood - Hispanics, Chinese, Aliens,
etc. His crimes were not crimes of passion or of profit; rather just
plain racism. Superman took him down,
twice. Both the times he was helped by Ron Troupe, another reporter
from the Daily Planet - an African-American.
In his first foray into the skin game, after he attracted
Superman's attention, Hi-Tech (See Hi-Tech)
was sent in to distract Superman while Bloodsport kept himself busy.
Seeing the situation, Ron Troupe, tried to get the perp but it resulted
in Bloodsport dropping a bomb, which was supposed to have killed
him and Hi-Tech.
Somehow the blast scrambled his teleportation implants and
teleported him out of the area. Again when he surfaced, he faced
Supes and again, he was foiled by Ron. Apparently Ron found his
weapons warehouse and blew the whole thing to smithereens.
Later on, Bloodsport was killed in prison when he succumbed to
burn injury from a fire.
While the Robert Dubois' rampage was fueled by Lex Luthor in a
discreet manner, the new Bloodsport was egged on by Bloodthirst who
surgically implanted his weapons transporter into his chest.
