The Birth: Bloodthirst's origins are unknown to all, at this
point of time. It is believed he has existed right from the begining
of time itself.
He was first seen in Man Of Steel #29 (January 1994)
The Legend: Soon after Superman "came back" from the
dead Metropolis was ravaged by the likes of Hi-Tech and Bloodsport.
(See Hi-Tech)
(See Bloodsport).
The driving force behind these two villains happened to be a being by
the name of Bloodthirst.
Bloodthirst seems to thrive on chaos existing in society. He
approached Superman when Krypton's last son was engaged in battle with
Hi-Tech. Besides his brute strength, his main method of offence
seemed to be a dial which resembled the face of a clock. The dial
stopped time in it's tracks and anyone within the time-field's radius
needed to make a hundred times more effort just to move.
Bloodthirst claimed to be humanity's past and future. He said it
was because of his hard pushing "survival of the fittest" methods that
mankind had achieved what it had today.
By spreading conflict throughout the universe, the weak will die
while the fittest will survive who will in turn breed a stronger
generation than themselves. By creating the right kind of stress he was
forcing humanity to confront the immpossible and conquer it. At least
that is what Bloodthirst believed.
He claimed to have lured the Hykos into ancient Egypt to
dominate for a hundred years before falling to the Egyptians when they
learned to match them strength for strenght. It was him who wispered
words of encouragement in Adolf Hitler's ears who waged
deadly attacks till the Allied Powers matched his military
might. And he insisted that it was him who forced Superman to conquer
death itself after killing the monster Doomsday.
